Do Not Harm the Oil and the
Wine
Revelation 6:6 (AMP)
6 And I heard what seemed to be a voice from the midst of the four
living creatures, saying, A quart of wheat for a denarius [a whole day's
wages], and three quarts of barley for a denarius; but do not harm the oil and
the wine!
I am angry. Should I be?
Was this foretold, or is this “proof texting?” I have been watching the local, state and
national leadership as they try to overcome the budget deficits. In a city near me, the Council has decided to
do away with the Health Department and raise public transportation rates. Neither of these line items affect the upper
or middle class. Both are very important
to the lower classes.
The Health Department provides inoculations that the
children are required to have to attend school.
Gone. The Health Department
provides inoculations for infants and toddlers need to prevent horrible
diseases. Gone. The Health Department has medical contacts
for all people. Gone.
Public transportation (city bus lines) provides lower
income people with the only way to get to work, the grocery or across
town. Limited by higher fares and lower
service.
Who will replace these services? To whom will the poor go? Well, they will not go to the poles to
vote. “Those” people do not vote. The people in the white SW part of the city
do vote. The budget makers will “not
harm the oil and the wine” and will protect their elected positions. They will do it with the approval of those
that vote, because “’those’ people are lazy and ignorant and need to help
themselves and not take our taxes for their medical and transportation. I have to buy my own vehicle, and
insurance. “Those people” should buy
their own vehicles and insurance, also.”
To some, I sound like a member of a specific
party. However, all parties are guilty
of protecting their own little “kingdoms” and giving words only to “service”
and not real service.
You may be honored that you were mentioned in
Revelations, but that will be short-lived.
Revelation 18:14 (AMP)
14 The ripe fruits and delicacies for which your soul longed have gone
from you, and all your luxuries and dainties, your elegance and splendor are
lost to you, never again to be recovered or experienced!
